Milan K. Patel

Milan K. Patel is a legal advisor and experienced litigator with expertise in international, Federal and state taxation. He represents U.S. citizens and businesses, resident and nonresident aliens, and international companies. As an advisor, he focuses on counseling individuals, business owners, and their families on estate and gift tax planning, domestic and offshore asset protection, drafting wills and trusts, elder law, Medicaid planning, and probate administration. As a litigator, he handles cases involving tax controversies, will contests, trusts and fiduciary malfeasance, and administrative audits and examinations.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Patel was a senior trial attorney at the Internal Revenue Service. He was also an international tax associate for a global accounting firm and a bank examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Among varied other experiences, he worked in Barcelona, Spain for a chemical exporting company and for his parent's company, a New England distributor of imported clothing.

Mr. Patel received his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, his J.D. with a concentration in Business Organizations and Finance Law from Boston University School of Law, and his B.A. in Economics from New York University. In addition, Mr. Patel studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science in England and Leiden University Faculty of Law in the Netherlands. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, and before the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
