Mike has more than 20 years experience in corporate transactional practice (involving business formations, mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, stockholder disputes and relations, commercial real estate transactions, securities work and intellectual property). In addition, he has been involved in estate planning as it pertains to succession planning for closely held businesses and family limited partnerships (family limited liability companies).
Mike has represented diverse clients including computer service providers, outsource placement firms, doctors, accountants, farmers, manufacturers and a myriad of start-ups in varied fields.
Mike is a former chairman and vice-chairman of the Tax Committee of the Essex County Bar Association. He has been named by his peers to be listed in Best Lawyers in America with respect to corporate and mergers and acquisitions law and in Super Lawyers--The Top Attorneys in New Jersey with respect to closely held businesses. Mike has also written (and occasionally lectured) in his areas of practice: his published articles include "Limited Liability for the Licensed Professional--a Historical Perspective on the Erosion of Vicarious Liability", "A Simple Mechanism to Restrict Traditional Partner Liability", "Allocating the Burden of Complying with ECRA" and "The Secondary Mortgage Loan Act Traps Lenders" and has co-authored "Creating a Stock Appreciation Rights Plan for Employees"; he recently lectured on business succession planing to the Essex County CPA Society.
Mike and his wife live in Short Hills, NJ with their two teenage daughters and puppy. An intercollegiate tennis player and hockey player at Binghamton, Mike continues to play competitive tennis, platform tennis and occasional pond hockey; Mike is also an avid skier.
